Hello friends,
Today’s lectionary reading from Ephesians 4:7-8, 11-16 speaks directly to the heart of our current moment in The Episcopal Church. This passage reminds us that Christ has given each of us unique gifts and that these gifts are meant to be used for the upbuilding of the body of Christ. Some are called to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, all working together to equip the saints for the work of ministry and to build up the church in love.
As leaders in the church, we are in a moment of significant transition. We’re facing critical questions about how we will navigate the road ahead and co-create, with God and one another, the future of our beloved yet imperfect Episcopal Church. With a new Presiding Bishop, new Executive Officer, and newly elected Episcopalians across our various bodies, we need leaders who will bring their experience, their gifts, their relationships to the table, grounded in prayer, service, faith in Jesus, and commitment to collaboration. We need leaders who embody the values of authenticity, right-relationship, accountability, collaboration, and kindness, modeling for one another and the world a different way of being.
With this understanding of leadership and a commitment to the health and mission of our church, I announce my intention to stand for re-election as the president of the House of Deputies for The Episcopal Church.
It has been a great honor to serve as your president for the last two years. Since you elected me in 2022, I have strived to embody these principles, providing strong, stable, and bold leadership through times of change and transition, through moments of progress and celebration, and through crises and challenges. Over the last two years, together, we have worked to address our challenges, not ignore them; to bring those challenges into the open, not discussed from the sidelines. We’ve begun addressing issues of accountability, transparency, and safety in our systems. We’ve navigated through a tightened triennium, through moments of health crises with our Presiding Bishop, through rapidly changing ways of gathering and calling community.
We have so much more to do together, friends, and we have some significant transitions ahead of us in the year ahead. I believe that through my experience serving through these extraordinary last two years, as well as my deep knowledge and love of Episcopal polity and governance, systems, and 25+ years in the nonprofit sector, I can help call us further into a future built on love, collaboration, and accountability, and provide crucial stability as we step into to next triennium and beyond.
Ephesians reminds us: we are called to speak the truth in love, to grow up in every way into Christ, and to work together to build up the body of Christ in the Way of Love. May we navigate this moment of transition with grace, courage, and unity, guided by the Holy Spirit and rooted in these timeless truths. We are a church that bears witness to the transformative love of Christ, standing strong and united in the face of the challenges before us, seeking relationship over divisiveness, serving Christ over self. It would be my honor to continue to serve as your president into this next triennium.
As we approach the upcoming General Convention, the election of our next Presiding Bishop, and countless other leaders to roles across our church, I humbly ask for your prayers, for myself and for everyone in discernment, and also for your vote and trust to continue serving as President of the House of Deputies.

Mi querida familia,
La lectura del leccionario de hoy de Efesios 4:7-8, 11-16 habla directamente del corazón de nuestro momento actual en la Iglesia Episcopal. Este pasaje nos recuerda que Cristo nos ha dado a cada uno de nosotros dones únicos y que estos dones deben usarse para la edificación del cuerpo de Cristo. Algunos son llamados a ser Apóstoles, Profetas, Evangelistas, Pastores y Maestros, pero todos trabajamos juntos para equipar a los santos y santas para la obra del ministerio y edificar la Iglesia en el amor.
Como líderes de la iglesia, nos encontramos en un momento de transición significativa. Nos enfrentamos con preguntas y críticas sobre cómo navegaremos el camino que tenemos por delante y para co-crear con Dios y juntos, el futuro de nuestra querida pero imperfecta Iglesia Episcopal. Con un nuevo Obispo Presidente, un nuevo Director Ejecutivo y líderes episcopales recién elegidos en nuestros diversos ministerios, necesitamos líderes que aporten su experiencia, sus dones, basados en la Oración, el servicio, la fe en Jesús y el compromiso con colaboración. Necesitamos líderes que encarnen los valores de autenticidad, relaciones saludables, responsabilidad, colaboración y bondad, siendo un buen ejemplo para el mundo y enseñar una forma diferente de ser.
Con esto que digo del liderazgo y el compromiso con la salud y la misión de nuestra Iglesia, anuncio mi intención de presentarme para la reelección como Presidente de la Cámara de Diputados de la Iglesia Episcopal.
Ha sido un gran honor ser su presidente durante los últimos dos años. Desde que me eligieron en 2022, me he esforzado por encarnar estos principios, brindando un liderazgo fuerte, estable y audaz en tiempos de cambio y transición, en momentos de progreso y celebración, y en crisis y desafíos. Durante los últimos dos años, hemos trabajado juntos para enfrentar nuestros desafíos, no ignorarlos; sacar esos desafíos a la luz pública, no discutirlos desde el margen. Hemos comenzado a resolver cuestiones de responsabilidad, transparencia y seguridad en nuestros sistemas. Hemos atravesado un trienio difícil, momentos de crisis de salud con nuestro Obispo Presidente y formas differentes de reunirnos y convocar a la comunidad.
Tenemos mucho más que hacer juntos, amigos, y tenemos algunas transiciones importantes por delante en el próximo año. Creo que a través de mi experiencia de servicio durante estos extraordinarios últimos dos años, así como mi profundo conocimiento y amor por la gobernacion ecclesial y los sistemas que tenemos y mis más de 25 años en el sector sin fines de lucro, puedo ayudar en el llamado de la Iglesia a un futuro construido sobre el amor, con la colaboración, responsabilidad, para juntos proporcionar estabilidad a medida que avanzemos hacia el próximo trienio y el futuro cercano.
El libro de Efesios nos recuerda: que estamos llamados a decir la verdad en amor y con amor, a crecer en Cristo en todos los sentidos y a trabajar juntos para edificar el cuerpo de Cristo en el camino del amor. Que podamos navegar este momento de transición con gracia, fuerza y unidad, guiados por el Espíritu Santo y agarrados de la verdad eterna. Somos una Iglesia que da testimonio del amor transformador de Cristo, manteniéndonos fuertes y unidos frente a los desafíos que tenemos por delante, buscando la relación por encima de la división, sirviendo a Cristo en vez de uno mismo. Sería para mi un honor el continuar sirviendo como su presidente durante el próximo trienio.
A medida que nos acercamos a la próxima Convención General, la elección de nuestro próximo Obispo Presidente y de muchos otros líderes para desempeñar funciones en toda nuestra Iglesia, pido humildemente sus oraciones, por mí y por todos los que estan en discernimiento, y también por su voto y confianza para continuar sirviendo como Presidente de la Cámara de Diputados.
